How to use this calculator
Type your yearly salary in the first box. The calculator instantly shows your equivalent hourly rate, plus weekly, biweekly, and monthly pay. Adjust hours per week and weeks per year if your schedule differs from the default 40-hour week over 52 weeks.
Tip: you can share a link with the numbers pre-filled, for example ?salary=60000 in the URL — the result appears the moment the page opens.
The formula
Hourly rate = annual salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks per year). For example, $60,000 ÷ (40 × 52) = $28.85 per hour. All figures shown are gross (pre-tax) pay.
Example: 60,000 a year is how much an hour?
At $60,000 a year, working 40 hours a week for 52 weeks, you earn $28.85 per hour, $1,153.85 per week, and $5,000 per month before taxes. If you take 2 unpaid weeks off (50 working weeks), the same salary works out to $30.00 per hour.
